As a singing telegram artist who’s sung dozens of different birthday songs for thousands of different singing telegram recipients, Orange peel knows we can do better than the ubiquitous “Happy Birthday” song.. It’s lyrically redundant and melodically dirge-like. Enter: “Birthday Medicine.” Peel first learned “Birthday Medicine” from a friend in Mexico. The author is unknown, but a YouTube user claims one version was penned by a Vermont woman named Maya. Regardless, it’s undeniably a better birthday song. A birthday song that actually makes the recipient feel cherished and incredibly special. A song that deserves far greater exposure. So Orange peel & Pals recorded their own version. El Javi produced it and supporting vocals were contributed by Andy Babb, Elle Logan, Larea Edwards, Lex Alvis, Rachelle Benson and Ray Taulbee (who also played kazoo). The tune was mixed and mastered by DVLP Music founder Drew Dugan. And we can’t wait to gift it to the world.
”Birthday Medicine” arrives soon on streaming music platforms. Pre-save it here.
