Go-go dancers are like motivational coaches for the dance floor. Even before the majority of inhibitions are lubricated away by booze, go-gos are already going to town on boxes adjacent to the DJ booth. Go-Go Soapbox highlights individual dancers in different cities. DJs may get paid hundreds or thousands more, but go-go dancers have become instrumental to electronic music performance. On the occasion of the fourteenth annual Global Dance Festival at Red Rocks, there is no more appropriate subject than the event's queen bee, Triad Dragons' Performing Arts Director Ms Easy.

I'm an Electric Daisy carny. That's the opening line of a song I penned on the flight to London last year for the inaugural UK edition of Electric Daisy Carnival. And it's true. I've been entertaining EDC festies since 2009, when the main event still took place at the LA Coliseum. From Chicago to Puerto Rico, I've performed in every market the EDM carnival has transpired in. How could I skip EDC's first trip across the pond?

Jennifer Lux is a curator of connection. “I am a connector/networker at my core,” says Lux. “At every yoga studio I've practiced at since the late 90s, I've quickly gotten to know and love the owners. Working initially to promote local teacher trainings, I started supporting social media efforts and customer experience for two Denver yoga studios. I was asked to support Yoga Rocks the Park Denver in 2010, along with Friday Night Yoga Club and Colorado Yoga Events. I helped grow YRP nationally until it was sold.”

Absinthe

A man in a white suit sits down at a table and pours a green drink into a glass. Then he balances a special perforated spoon and a sugar cube across the rim. This small beverage preparation ritual foreshadows many balancing acts (and arguably altered reality) to come. Absinthe is the perfect entertainment cocktail for Sin City. It's even got sin in the name. In a town saturated with Cirque du Soleil, Absinthe offers a foul-mouthed, intimate, less pretentious alternative.

David Michael Scott is the outdoor type. “I started kayaking with my dad when I was seven years old,” remembers the Kindness Yoga teacher and wilderness guide. “I had a lot of social issues as a child and I wasn’t much for team sports. My father recognized that the wilderness would have a calming effect on my hyperactive personality and that I needed a solo sport that we could do together. I kayaked in my first race when I was nine. The life vest I wore was so big on me that when I turned to look from side to side, I would have to look through the arm holes.”

Neurosculpting Yoga Q&A

Stress. It can motivate our finest moments—adrenaline-fueled superhuman strength has saved individuals pinned by 3,000 pound vehicles—or give us gray hair prematurely (see every President ever). Most people react to environmental stressors in a kind of involuntary, knee-jerk manner. There is a better way, though. Think of your brain as an animal that can be trained. Just as intentionally smiling or laughing can actually positively enhance your mood, curating your thoughts and thought patterns can radically and dramatically transform your daily reality.

Envision Festival in Costa Rica

Costa Rica is a biodiverse place. Five percent of the world's plants and animals call the relatively small Central American country home. Still, you'll rarely see a zebra in Costa Rica—especially since the government announced plans to shutter its public zoos in recent years. Envision Festival attendees experienced an exception last Sunday morning when a quad stilt version of the stripey African steed ambled through the crowd during Random Rab's sunrise set, climaxing on stage with a game of Pin the Tail on the Zebra beneath the sizable driftwood jaguar above.
